Greetings from the PowerInbox team!
Before we jump into the Q&A for this edition of the InsiderInbox, we wanted to take a moment to extend our heartfelt love and support for the people of Houston and everyone along the Texas and Louisiana coasts here in the U.S. We are shocked and saddened by the surreal scenes of flooding and destruction in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. Our thoughts are with you, and we know that Texans are nothing if not resilient. Recovery may be long, but we know you WILL recover. #TexasStrong
This month, we figured it was time we finally give our own CEO, Jeff Kupietzky, a crack at our questions to give us his perspective on the industry. If you haven’t met Jeff, here are a few things you should know: He is a seasoned digital industry veteran with more than 20 years in the business. Jeff began his career as a business analyst with McKinsey & Company, and after earning his MBA from the Harvard Business School, moved on to product manager at Siebel Systems. Since then, he’s held executive-level positions at Loudcloud, Digital Insight and X1 Technologies. Before coming to PowerInbox almost 6 years ago, he spent 5 years as President/CEO at Oversee.net. Today, Jeff drives business strategy and vision for our entire product portfolio.
Here’s what he has to say about the industry he loves.
1. I’d like to shake up this question by instead suggesting: In your humble opinion, what is the most interesting thing about marketing?
I like the blending of qualitative and quantitative data. You can apply creativity with the rigor of objective information and analysis
2. What is your personal mission statement?
Try and be home for dinner! Well…at least most nights.
3. Tell us something about your job that inspires you to keep working here.
I believe we can make emails feel like the dynamic, personalized experience of the web. There are a set of best practices to do that, which we can help our clients aspire to.
4. Offices or open work space?
Open work space. I like the informal dialogue that open space encourages.
5. What is a skill that every digital marketer should have and why?
Listening to the customer. Even if you don’t agree with them you’ll gain valuable insight into what they value
6. What is the best part about your job?
Helping our clients succeed in creating engaging and personalized emails that meet their KPIs.
7. If you could only use five (digital) marketing tools, what would they be? And why?
Email – it is hands down the BEST medium to engage clients. Are there others? 😊
8. Facebook or Twitter?
Neither. WhatsApp – because it’s where all my children hang out. By the way, we have a component that allows you to add WhatsApp to your emails as well… (couldn’t resist the opportunity to mention that).
9. What is the biggest digital marketing trend that will drive success for the second half of 2017?
More and more AI supporting marketing decisions. If you are not leveraging some data scientist at work, you’re behind
10. What’s your go-to karaoke song? And why?
“You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” by The Righteous Brothers. Why? – Because Top Gun. Why else?
11. What’s the one or two things you can’t live without to get the job done?
My head of marketing (Of course, I made him say that! 😊 – Renee), and the support of our investors to pay for her spending habit.
Thanks, Jeff! We appreciate you taking the time to share your insight with us, even though we didn’t really give you any choice!
